Empowering Learning and Exploring Innovation: A Week of Inspiration in İzmir!

Last week, Res. Assist. Dr. Burcu Koç and Inst. Kübra Ayaz from the Department of Foreign Languages Education participated in two impactful events that highlight the transformative role of education and technology in today’s world.

Advancing AI Integration in English Teaching
They took part in the AIETP Program, funded by RELO, which is designed to equip educators with the knowledge and skills to integrate AI into English language teaching. Through a series of intensive online and in-person workshops, she gained expertise in:

• Explaining AI concepts and their implications for teaching and learning.
• Developing training frameworks, activities, and assessment tasks for AI-focused curricula.
• Designing a 10-hour training course to enhance AI integration in classrooms.

Exploring the Future of Micro-Credentials
In the same week, she attended the “Micro-Credentials: Identity Cards of the Digital Age” workshop, co-organized by İzmir University of Economics and the Vocational Qualifications Authority (MYK). She extends her appreciation to Donald Staub and Özge Coşkun Aysal for organizing this insightful workshop and fostering meaningful discussions.

Both events served as a platform for exchanging innovative ideas and exploring new directions in education and employability. The knowledge and connections gained during this inspiring week will undoubtedly contribute to advancing their work and their contributions to the field of education in Türkiye.
