The language of instruction is English in the English Language Teaching Program of Sakarya University. The preparatory education program is organized and carried out by the Department of Foreign Languages Education of the Faculty of Education, and it is mandatory. The courses offered within the framework of English preparatory education are only for students enrolled in the English Language Teaching program of Sakarya University Faculty of Education, Department of Foreign Languages Education.
Students enrolled in the department are subject to an English exemption exam. Students who do not take this exam or fail this exam continue with mandatory English Preparatory Education. The exemption conditions are stated below:
Those who have successfully completed the preparatory class of a university other than Sakarya University, and those with a score from the exemption exam that meets the preparatory class success criteria described in article 7/a of this directive of the Sakarya University Faculty of Education English Language Teaching Department (80 points and above), are entitled to continue to undergraduate program from the first year (within the validity period of the foreign language exam).
Apart from the preparatory exemption exams administered by Sakarya University Faculty of Education Foreign Languages Education Department, those who have passed the foreign language exemption exam given by another university and did not receive education in the preparatory class, must take the foreign language exemption exams held by the Sakarya University Education Faculty Foreign Language Education Department and have a minimum of 80 score points.
The grade corresponding to the proficiency score obtained in an internationally valid foreign language exam is determined according to the current version of the equivalence table determined by CoHE (Council of Higher Education).
Students registered with FSE (Foreign Student Examination) can start their undergraduate education by meeting the preparatory class success criteria explained in Article 7 of this directive and by obtaining a Turkish B1 certificate from Sakarya University TÖMER.
Foreign language education in the English Preparatory program is in English and includes training in four basic language skills: Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking. Classes are held at Sakarya University Faculty of Education Hendek Campus, and a 24-hour program is applied per week.
