The English Language Teaching Program affiliated to the Foreign Languages Department in Faculty of Education at Sakarya University took its first steps in the academic year of 2010-2011 with the 50 BA students enrolled through the university entrance exam. In 2013-2014 academic year, the department bid a farewell to the first graduates, who were fastidiously and keenly educated. Approximately 50 pre-service teachers graduate from the program every year. Prof. Dr. Firdevs KARAHAN had been in charge of the department as the department head between 2011 and 2021. Following her retirement, Dr. Savaşçı is currently undertaking this responsibility.
The MA program initially offered in cooperation with the Department of English Language Teaching at Kocaeli University started its studies with 5 Turkish and 1 foreign students accepted to the program. Our MA programme produced its first graduates in 2013-2014 academic year, and has accelerated its academic growth.
The Department of Foreign Languages having covered a significant distance in the last 12 years aims to contribute more to the academic world as a student-oriented unit that has been updating itself regulary according to the needs of the contemporary era and perpetuating its educational services at international standards.
