Dr. Lyndsay Renee Buckingham Reynolds from Comillas Pontifical University (Madrid/Spain) paid a visit to our department between 02.05.2024 and 07.05.2024. On May 2nd, Dr Buckingham taught and observed some classes at the undergraduate and graduate levels. In her teaching sessions, she focused on CLIL and Co-teaching. The pre-service teachers in our department had the opportunity to direct their questions regarding CLIL, co-teaching, and the educational context in Spain. Dr Buckingham also had a meeting with the instructors from our ELT department and Primary School Education to introduce the Spanish educational context at K-12 and higher education levels and to discuss possible future research collaboration. This meeting made it possible for the instructors of our faculty to strengthen their interdisciplinary network between the two departments and to establish new networks with international scholars. On May 3rd, Dr Buckingham provided a plenary talk on empowering teachers at our annual undergraduate students’ conference, SAUREDELT-2024. On May 4th, our department organized a cultural tour to introduce natural and historical sightseeing places to our guests with the participation of our head of department, Assist. Prof. Dr. Merve Savaşçı and one of our instructors, Assit. Prof. Dr. Elif Bozyiğit. On May 6th, our Research Assistant Sena Tetik accompanied Dr. Buckingham in the International Week organized by the SAU Erasmus Office and the International Office. We believe the visit has increased both parties’ perceptions of future collaboration and different methods of teacher education.
