Dr Burcu Koç attended the UK-Türkiye Internationalisation in Higher Education Forum held at Middle East Technical University on March 4, 2025. The forum, organized in partnership with the British Council and METU, brought together academics, university leaders, and policymakers to discuss strategies for strengthening international partnerships in higher education.
The event provided a valuable opportunity to explore best practices in joint academic initiatives, certification programs, and academic mobility. Participants shared insights on overcoming barriers in forming sustainable international collaborations through panel discussions and interactive breakout sessions.
Dr Koç engaged in networking sessions and one-on-one discussions with academics from UK institutions, exchanging ideas on potential joint projects. These conversations have laid the groundwork for future collaborations, and discussions are already underway to explore partnership opportunities between Sakarya University and UK universities.
As a follow-up, an online meeting with colleagues from the University of Strathclyde is planned to further develop these initiatives. This forum serves as an important step toward increasing internationalization at Sakarya University, with plans to apply for grants aimed at fostering stronger academic ties and collaborative programs with UK institutions.
