Welcome to the Department of Foreign Language Education!
The Department of Foreign Language Education currently offers bachelor’s and master’s degree programs in English language teaching (ELT), and two different double major programs in early childhood education, and guidance and psychological counselling. In recognition of the fact that language cannot be delimited to the totality of words, but is rather the embodiment of a community’s culture, tradition and history (as put by Chomsky), the (under)graduate curriculum is made up of, besides proficiency courses, a wide array of discipline-specific and interdisciplinary subjects, ranging from ELT methodology, English literature and subfields of linguistics to artificial intelligence, multiculturalism and inclusivity. In order for them (and their prospective students too) to thrive in the 21st century workplace, English teacher candidates are also equipped with a firm basis in a second foreign language (German/Spanish), entrepreneurship and project management. We thank you for choosing to become a member of this dynamic community of learning partners, and with real enthusiasm, look forward to building a brighter future together.
